A Romantic American Love Story Meets Scottish Castle Magic
When Paul & Kirstie dreamed of their wedding, they envisioned something timeless & romantic. And as an American couple with a passion for travel, it was only natural they’d choose to celebrate their love with a destination wedding. And what could be more enchanting than tying the knot in a real Scottish Castle
The couple with their closest family and friends traveled from the United States to celebrate at Auchen Castle. Surrounded by Scotland’s natural beauty and with Pauls Scottish heritage the day was a real American meets Scottish wedding.
PAUL & KIRSTIE’S FAIRYTALE DESTINATION WEDDING AT AUCHEN CASTLE
For Paul & Kirstie, this wasn’t just a wedding – it was a beginning of a new chapter in their life together and they wanted all their family and friends to be a part of too.
A weekend of activities with highland games the day before the wedding made this a memorable weekend in Scotland. The combination of Kirstie & Pauls love for each other and the stunning beauty of Auchen Castle made this a wedding a joy to photograph.

FAIRYTALE DESTINATION WEDDING AT AUCHEN CASTLE
There is something special about a Scottish castle and Auchen Castle ticks all the Scottish castle boxes. With its magnificent architecture, gardens and picturesque lake its a perfect wedding venue.
Family & friends enjoyed a Highland games event the day before so we really knew the guests and how much fun they would be. The laughter was flowing from the very start. Kirstie looked stunning in a flowing ivory gown with delicate lace detailing while Paul wore traditional Scottish kilt with a thistle boutonniere, a nod to Paul’s Scottish heritage.
SCOTTISH HANDFASTING WEDDING CEREMONY
Kirstie & Paul opted for an outdoor ceremony, brave when you think of the weather in Scotland but the sun shone and with a traditional Scottish handfasting ceremony they where married. The ceremony ended with a toast to their future and then walked down the aisle to a confetti shower all topped off with a dramatic kiss and the sounds of the bagpipes.
After the ceremony the breathtaking views of the castle & surrounding landscape made the perfect backdrop for our photographs. Paul & Kirstie really where a dream to photograph, they never stopped smiling. Even when they took time out to practice their first dance it made for some of our favourite photos of the day and of course we had to get to piper in. Well it is Scotland after all.
CEILIDH DANCING AND FIREWORKS
The Scottish traditions followed as the piper piped the Bride & Groom in for dinner where after we where treated to really entertaining and emotional speeches. Paul & Kirstie cutting the cake marked the start of the evening celebrations with everyone on the dance floor ceilidh dancing. The energy was off the scale.
And what better way to end the perfect wedding day than with everyone enjoying a spectacular firework display. After kirstie changed into her wedding party dress the evening really came alive with the dance floor full till the early hours. Boy do Americans know how to party x
FROM AMERICA TO SCOTLAND A Fairytale WEDDING AT AUCHEN CASTLE
We had so much fun photographing Paul & Kirstie. They really are a gorgeous couple and a joy to spend time with. We do photograph many weddings where American bride & grooms have decided that Scotland is their dream destination wedding location and we do love photographing them. The energy that they bring and their love for tradition make our job of capturing their special memories such a joy.
