Azra & Dominics Poruwa Wedding Ceremony in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is described as ‘One of the most exotic & beautiful islands in the world’ and from our experience we totally agree.

With its stunning landscape, unique culture and genuinely warm and hospitable people its easy to see why Azra & Dominic fell so in love with Sri Lanka, it is just beautiful.

So the question for Azra and Dominic was a traditional Poruwa Ceremony or a western style ceremony, easy answer….. both.

A Poruwa ceremony is a traditional Sinhalese wedding ceremony that takes place on a “Poruwa”, a beautifully decorated, traditional wooden platform. The ceremony involves a series of rituals performed by the bride and groom, and their families.

The ceremony ends with the brother breaking a coconut (the cleaner the break the longer the marriage) so a long marriage for these guy xx

The temperature was 30 degrees plus, not unusual for Sri Lanka but this was 10am and with the Bay of Bengal in the background it seemed only right that we grabbed a few images on the gorgeous white sands at Trinco Blu by Cinnamon Hotels at Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.

As the title of this blog states this was wedding part 1 as the midday saw temperatures soar well over 30 degrees so the western style ceremony was to take place at 4pm in the afternoon so now it was time to chill, relax with family & friends and just enjoy this paradise location.
